Welcome to the vibrant world of Ashgrove School!  I'm Leon Van't Veen, and I'm absolutely thrilled to be the principal of this incredible learning community.

We're bursting with pride when it comes to our school, and we consider it a true privilege to be a part of this dynamic learning environment.  We're not just pleased; we're over the moon to introduce you to our fantastic school.

We're a lively, buzzing, and super creative school community nestled on the Northwest side of Rangiora Township, just a stone's throw from Christchurch.  Our mission?  Making sure every child in our care enjoys the absolute best learning experiences possible.

Ashgrove School has a rich history of serving our local community with a big smile, and we're all about offering students authentic and engaging learning adventures.

Our aim is to nurture children who are creative, eager to collaborate, and bursting with confidence.  We've set the bar high because we believe in our students and their potential to achieve greatness.

Our staff are like a dream team, bringing their unique strengths to the table to ensure students dive into enriching learning experiences in all sorts of ways.  Students get to explore small group and independent learning in their homerooms and across their hubs, where they have a say in their learning journey, goals, and pathways, all while working in harmony with their teacher.

At Ashgrove School, our STAR values are more than just words - they're a way of life:

- Service (or ratonga) means we're always ready to lend a helping hand.
- Trust (whakapono) means we're masters of self-regulation.
- Positive Attitude (wairua) means we're all about taking initiative, showing resilience, playing fair, and diving headfirst into new challenges.
- Respect (whakaute) and Responsibility (takohanga) are our guiding lights. We believe in kindness, helpfulness, fairness, and budding leadership.

We've got a strong sense of partnership with our parents and community, all working together towards one common goal - our students' success and growth!

Our staff are an amazing group of people. They're always eager to learn and grow through professional development, and they go above and beyond for the students they care for.

Please feel free to make a time to come and visit us.  We're beaming with pride for "our place," and we'd love to share it with you.
