Board of Trustees
Welcome to our school
Nestled in urban North West Rangiora, Ashgrove continues its well-earned reputation as a great place to learn, both for children and the wider school community.
All Ashgrove stakeholders share a common mission - To provide a quality education in a positive environment which encourages learning for life.
The Ashgrove School Board of Trustees has a mix of both new and experienced Trustees. In May 2013 the triennial elections took place. This saw the return of two existing Trustees and the election of a new Trustee.
Staff BOT Representative
Mrs Christine Chadwick
The Board continues to have a full workload as we work through the many issues facing schools today. From finances to property, National Standards to ICT, Health and Safety to communication, and the roll growth that we are currently experiencing and expect to continue as the housing developments in our school zone expand, to name just a few. This housing development and roll growth is expected to see the building of ten additional classrooms (3 new / 5 replacement and 2 in partnership with Allenvale as an offsite campus) with an anticipated opening date late 2016. Our school campus has been selected for the two classrooms as a satellite for Allenvale School after discussion held with the Ministry of Education and the Board of Trustees of both Ashgrove and Allenvale.
The Boards primary focus is on Governance, including strategic planning for the next 3 to 5 years. The BOT endeavors to provide the necessary building blocks to ensure we fully support our Principal, Management team and staff in their day to day management of all the schools activities.
As a Board of Trustees we would like to acknowledge and thank the Ashgrove PTA, who work tirelessly to raise additional funds towards special projects enhancing the school environment. In 2014 the Board and the PTA have continue their partnership to resource ICT development with digital devices throughout the school. This is a 50/50 partnership and has seen a significant financial spend. The teachers and students are enjoying the new computers and technology equipment this financial partnership has delivered. The Board and PTA intend to continue the development of our IT equipment.
Ashgrove simply could not function as well, without the PTA's hard work and generous assistance. With this in mind it would be appreciated by all if you can maintain the support of the PTA in their efforts wherever you can so the great work they do can be continued and the extras we desire to enhance our children's education can be purchased. The PTA's major fundraiser is the Santa's Grotto with over 7,000 visitors in 2014. The Board would like to thank the many sponsors and helpers that assisted the PTA to put together this event and indeed the PTA itself for the hard work that went into making this event such a success both in fundraising and strengthening community in the wider Waimakariri and Canterbury districts.
